Sorry for reactivating an old post -- almost as old as CT himself.

Did anyone ever have an answer as to the practical use of a Base Balance? Is it a mechanism for having compound balances -- I.e. a balance feeding a balance?

Additionally, is there any value (performance improvement maybe?) in using the Primary Balance definition over using the Balance Feeds with just a single feed?

Thank you,

Peter.

Documentation suggests it is for certain localizations but doesn't say which ones. Window help says:

Balances often share a common relevancy to certain assignments. In some localizations, you can define base balances to imply a relationship between the balances that can be relied upon when processing and reporting. For example, "Loan Repayment" could be the base balance for "Loan Repayment Arrears".

Hello All,

Again apologies for reactivating an old topic.

Has anyone ever successfully used a "Base Balance"? I know what the manual definition says -- as noted by DelBoy last time I asked this question. But I can't find any definition that explains the use or definition of a "Base Balance".

Have tried to define one myself, but nothing appeared to happen, so unclear whether my definition is incorrect, or, even though the field is available, "Base Balance" simply don't operate under UK legislation.

Thank you,

Peter.

Hello,

I'm interested in finding out more about the Base Balance field too. I have only been able to find the above information in the Oracle Documentation.

Has anyone used it?

Thanks

Marina

From an extensive search of all the available package bodies, the only references to base balance appear to be for legislation specific (ie seeded) balances, and even then only for Mexican, and possibly French legislations.

From a quick scan of the code, they appear to use it to reference a logical collection of balances - in much the same way as the rest of us achieve via balance feed classifications.

Thanks Fled. Much appreciated.

I couldn't find very much out there in the land of the interweb.

Hope all's well.

Take care

Lubble
