Hi All,

We have an element that is marked as Gross Up and Process Seperate. This element also has Formula
Result Types of 'Update recurring entry' and STOP. One of the input value is End Date.
When the payroll period coincides with the value held in End date the element entry is enddated automatically
as expected. All good.
Several periods after, the employee is due retrospective pay. When Retro Pay (Enhanced) is processing
the period when the element was enddated it errors with:
ITEMS FOR ASSIGNMENT PROCESS nnnnnnnnnnn REQUIRE ROLLBACK
RUN RESULTS, MESSAGE LINES, ASSIGNMENT LATEST BALANCES, PERSON LATEST BALANCES OR ELEMENT ENTRIES
EXIST FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT PROCESS. YOU MUST ROLL THESE BACK FIRST.

Our understanding is that Retropay is attempting to use the result type 'Update recurring entry' but
because the element has been enddated it is then erroring. Not sure if this is correct or not.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John.

Hi John,

I think you'll find you cannot retro Grossup elements.

Hi Del,

We are not trying to retro the Grossup element. It does not have a retro component.

I think it is being processed when retro re-runs the payroll in memory. It seems it is this
re-run that is attempting to use the result type 'Update recurring entry'. This theory may
be wrong of course!!

We have had this issue several times before but on those occasions the employees did not have
any back pay so we simply set the status to 'deferred forever' on the Retro Status form.

You could well be right. I tend to steer clear of 'Update Recurring Entries' if I can avoid it. I guess the retro process can't undo the Update recurring end date to reprocess it.

Could be considered as a bug maybe?
