Hello all
Apologies if this post feels a little tired and weary. It has been a long day/month/year already!
Those of you who have regularly frequented this quaint corner of the web will know that this site has been kept ticking along by the splendid efforts of a few trusty friends (@CT and @delboy to name but 2), and by the seamlessly deep pockets of myself! Sadly, the days of the deep pockets, and endless funding streams, are coming to a close, and I must now decide on what to do with HCMAces.
Current events in the UK with regard to changes to employment legislation, will have an adverse (negative) impact on the UK contract market, and ultimately will impact of the funds that I personally have available to spend on fripperies such as this site.
Cumulative hosting and software licence fees have added up to a reasonable sized chunk of cash over the years (somewhere between 10 and 15 years - I am vague as to when this actually started). I need to look to downsizing my portfolio, and am considering shuttering up this site.
I'm not sure it gets the same volume of traffic that it used to do in its heyday, and with the ever expanding market in enterprise cloud applications, the predominantly Oracle EBS-centric nature of this site is starting to show its age, and diminish its usefulness.
I'm minded to bring this to a close, and mothball it all (an annual domain fee is a lot less that the hosting fee). I'm also open to offers should anyone wish to pick this up and take over - I'd happily consider the sale of the domain and site (in terms of a transfer of full ownership), including the other associated (parked) domains that I have that make up the package. If anyone is interested then please reach out.
Either way, I'll give it to middle of the year (June 2020).
Cheers
Barry

Barry,
I've been wondering for a while now about when this would crop up. I can certainly understand the sentiment, with everything going on in the industry - particularly in the UK. Posting rates have pretty much gone off a cliff over the past year or so, so I am guessing that most legitimate traffic these days is more about using the site as some kind of archive for 'frequently asked questions' to do with EBS; not enough justification for continuing to fully fund it, though.
Having said that, this site has certainly provided me with a mine of information (most of it useful), inspiration, not to say laughs aplenty with some of the 'banter' (aka defamatory/libellous exchanges) since its inception in April 2005!
Hopefully someone with more relevant - i.e. cloud-based - expertise will see fit to take it on and expand it in that direction, whilst maybe retaining the 'old school' stuff for any remaining EBS dinosaurs to feed on!
I'm sure I won't be alone in wanting to thank you for your efforts in continually keeping the thing afloat through the past 15 years, doing all the upgrades, fending off the ne'r-do-wells from certain Central/Eastern European domains.
Hoping for the best of outcomes here.
Cheers,
CT
