I've been asked to ask this question by an apparently shy colleague.

We're using Disco with Apps Security turned off (historical reasons; don't ask...). The reporting team has now created a Budget Managers report and part of this spec is for budget managers to be able to see certain budget centre only.

The proposed way forward is for a custom table to be built with the Budget Manager Person ID and a list of budget centres that the guy can see. However, in order for the reporting team not to make 400 different workbooks with different filters, they'd like to get the person_id returned from Discoverer and do the filtering dynamically.

Does anybody have any ideas?

I'm out of my depth here being a lowly Funkie but one of the other threads states that fnd_global.employee_id brings back the the user's person_id in Self-Service. Could you not pass this as a parameter to the workbook when invoking Discoverer from your Self-Service menu?
