Morning all gurus

Here at W-D a wee annoyance has just surfaced, whereby we are required to load a (recurring) element entry that starts and ends on the same day. Creating it is OK, however when one tries to end-date it, we get the message:

"DateTrack delete not allowed

Cause: You cannot perform the DateTrack delete operation because your effective date is set to the last datetracked row.

Action: Clear your changes and move your current effective date back in time"

All well and good, but if I shift the effective date back it won't even see the entry as it's before the effective start date!

I can do this through the screen, so what gives then?

Just in case anyone's tempted to ask, I have already checked Mentalink and, surprise-surprise, nothing doing.

Anyone else encountered this on their travels?

Just a thought (which may not be useable)

After you load your data, so it has a start date but no end date, can you just delete the element link with an Effective End date, as this will end date all open occurrences of the element ?
Or just create a link for the specific group of people you are loading and do the above.

Nice try Brian! However, this element has to remain visible at all times, so no option to end-date the links, sadly...

I've achieved this here using the api, by accident it must be said! I'd have to rumage around to find the original (and faulty) code that did do it.

Another idea...how's about doing a DT change, and then doing a delete next change on the change.
The DT change (on the day after the start date) will, in effect create an entry with 1 days validity. You could then remove the next change - will this leave the end-date intact i wonder?
