Hi All,

I am having some issues related to HR Intelligence, Business Intelligence Systems and Discoverer.

We are implementing Oracle HRMS at our client and are looking at implementing HR Intelligence to be used for reporting puroses.

My problem is understanding the differences between HRI, BIS and Discoverer, and what functionality each provides and what seeded components they come with.

At the moment we have got discoverer installed but are having problems running the reports of the EUL. We also believe that we may have parts of the HRI installed as we can see seeded reports in the eul as well.

Is there someone out there who can advise me on what the difference is between HRI, BIS and Discoverer and how they are intended to be used.

Your help will be gretly appreciated.

Regards,

Gustav

It's been a couple of years since I was involved with this at Oracle, but here's a few thoughts:

Discoverer is a reporting tool - you can buy it on its own or with Oracle Applications.

If you buy Disco with Oracle Apps, you get the standard EUL which you can use to write your own reports.

BIS was the old name for HRMSi

How to use - well a good starting point would be to give yourself the Human Resources Intelligence responsibility. This gives you access to several seeded reports. As you look at the menu, those where the prompt end in the word Analysis are Discoverer reports. Those which don't are Reports 6.

So Discoverer is not HRMSi. And neither is HRMSi all Discoverer.

But you need to do some set up to make this lot work - there are some fast formulae that need configuring for example to set the rules for your use of the reports (for example to determine if a Leaver should be shown as Voluntary or involuntary). And there I guess Metalink is the place to look.

Hope these pointers help - sorry I didn't spot your question earlier.

Geoff
