Is it possible to report across business groups using Discoverer when using the Position Hierarchy? So for instance if I want to find out the number of positions vacant in both the UK and ROI business groups together? I know there is a global security profile but that uses organizations rather then positions.

The problem is that the responsibility the user uses with Disco Viewer will only allow the user to view info in one business group at a time.

Perhaps by setting the 'HR:Cross Business Group' profile option would allow a user to view the data from both the ROI and UK business group with one responsibility?

Any thoughts?

First, I think the you probably do not want to report using the Position Hierarchy, you just want to report on Positions in more than one Business Group (and by definition therefore in more than one Position Hierarchy) - is that correct?

Second assumption here is that you want to report on Work Structures stuff, not on People data - i.e. unsecured data?

If all this is true, you should be able to do it as you say. If you need to show secured data (Post holders) then you need to make sure that the Security Profile allows that (the Security Profile must be created using the Global version fo the form, not the in BG one).

We want to be able to report filled/vacant positions, pay rates, headcount, FTE etc across business groups. Are you saying we would be able to do this using a custom Disco report by setting 'HR:Cross Business Group' profile option to 'Yes' and using a responsibility which has a global security profile?

The problem with this approach is that the Global security profile uses the org or supervisor hierarchy, it cannot use the position hierarchy which we are using in our 2 business groups.

Is there a way to create a 'Dummy' org hierarchy with the top level organizations in the two business groups and then map this in some way to the position hierarchy in the business groups so it uses the position hierarchy for the business group detail info?

All we want to do is report accross the business groups but this doesn't seem possible if you are using the Position hierarchy (as the Global profile doesn't support position hierarchy), so I am looking for the easiest way to do this.
