No such thing as a 'free' killer script smile

I also have a R12 Vision instance running.

Has anyone upgraded from the 12.0 base Vision install?

Thanks

Alex

Ah ha, now there is a question....

I have (finally) after much delay, completed a full system backup of my R12 instance.
I am now in a position to upgrade to 12.3 (i know that rup 4 is now on the streets but it took so long to download the rup 3 patches that i thought i better stick with them).

All i need is a window to perform the upgrade - given past experience i may have to set-aside a day. A DBA on the end of a telephone would also be handy smile

I will post up the experiences (good or bad) here once done

Yes
I'm now running 12.0.4 - admittedly this is on my Linux R12 instance.
My former Windows R12 instance is now an 11.5.10.2 instance as i needed an 11i environment as well as a R12.

The upgrade was relatively painfree (if a little on the slow side). The main issue was making sure i had all the pre-reqs and performed everything in the correct order smile
It took me a weekend to do (not continuously - i did have to slot it in between chores etc).

Blowing the dust off this thread a bit I know, but has anyone tried upgrading from the Base 12.0.0 via the patching/utilities option in the SysAdmin responsibility? I am somewhat at a loose end at the moment so would be inclined to try this as long as I stood some chance of success.

When I go into it, the system asks me to set up my Metalink details - am I on a non-starter for not having a proper SAC code for this?

Any advice gratefully received...

Ah....that would hinder the process slightly.

I downloaded the required patch files directly from My Oracle Support using the support access i have with my current client.

I have a 12.1.1 Vision install and have successfully patched it up to 12.1.3, although I did take a leap of faith when executing parts of it. I followed the steps included in the readme files with the patchset.

12.1.3 does not come with an auto install release, hence there is no instant vision install. To get there you have to go via the patching / upgrade route.

For 12.0.4 i think you would need a slightly different patchset to the one i used (presumably to get from 12.0.4 to 12.1.1 etc).

Of course the next big thing to look out for will be the "Vision" version for Fusion Apps smile Although i wonder whether this would actually run on a laptop
