Hi,

We have an Oracle report that is run with concurrent manager and has an output type of PDF. When the NLS_LANG was set to UTF8 the report displayed in weird symbols.

In order for these Oracle reports to work we had to change our NLS_LANG setting from UTF8 to WE8ISO8859P1. This setting is causing a lot of extra work for the DBAs when it comes to patching and was only meant to be a temporary measure.

Does anyone have any experience using Oracle reports and getting them to work with NLS_LANG set to UTF8?

Many Thanks

Martin

Hi Martin
Are you refering to the NLS_LANG setting as part of the init.ora (v$parameter), or individual PC language setting or some profile setting in the profile options?

Regards

Barry

Thanks Barry,

I think it's the init.ora value, because it is the value set on the Oracle Server. We have raised an SR with Oracle and the answer they came back with was:

The only available workaround for generating PDF on a UTF8 character set instance is to install and utilize the XML Publisher product or upgrade to E-Business Suite to Release 12.

Are you aware of any other solutions or workarounds instead of learning XML Publisher from scratch?

Many Thanks

Martin

Hmm we are WE8ISO8859P1 here.

I seem to recal us having some teething toubles when we moved over to XML pub as well - i think it caught out some of our reports.
