During the recent OHUG conference in Las Vegas, Oracle development announced that all HCM/HR apps are going to be included in family packs.

FP.K.rup3 - now includes iRecruitment
Next FP will include OLM and OTL.

This means there will no longer be mini packs/separate releases for all applications. I found this scary myself!!!

Release 12 RUP 5 will be broken down by product family.
So they are releasing RUP 5 packs for Financials, HCM suite, CRM etc

In a way this is good, as it means that a HRMS-only user no longer needs to apply a roll-up that includes the entire e-Bus suite. This should (in theory at least) make patching and upgrades a bit easier to manage.

On the downside, i can see issues where changes are being made to common/shared components - Either Oracle have to place such changes into all relevant packs (to cover cherry picking) or they are going to have to have different flavours of packs depending upon what combination of products you are using - this would make the management and distribution of such updates a mare!

I'll certainly be taking RUP 5 Financials and HCM on my vision install.
