We are considering implementing Gogle Adsense on this site, with possibly a couple of fairly discrete ads places either at top/bottom of the page, or within the side-bars.

The aim is to test out the ability to generate a small revenue stream from ads to pay for the ongoing hosting/domain fees that this site clocks up.

Before this is implemented we would welcome any thoughts on this subject, or other ideas (one suggestion has been to provide paid-for advertising from contractor companies).

Seems a reasonable way to go I guess - at least to try it. I've no idea how much revenue something like that would generate...

My $1 worth here would be - does it have to be ads? Those I personally find annoying. How about a section with links to websites from everyone - contractors etc? In one of the most lovely boxes you have surrounding the forum perhaps

This is something that has been considered and discussed as well. As i work with many contractors this may well prove to be a more viable option.
