In the Oracle Openworld 2008 all the Oracle presentors were selling R12 BI publisher saying its the way to go forward and Disco/reports developer are thing of past.. ..

I have a feeling that may be its not just a selling strategy but is true.. (bcoz our DBAs have upgraded our 11.5.9 instance to R12 and are not able to get the Disco running on R12) so may be something is really broken..

Does anyone have any information/thoughts about this?

Here BI Pub is replacing 6i reports - we still have Disco.
Although i have heard rumour that Disc is being rebadged...

It's called OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition i think).

Perhaps rebadged is the wrong term to use as i do not know how it compares to what we know as Discoverer - one hopes that one of the lurking Disco peeps may chip in with some words of enlightenment...

Note to self - must spend more time here.

Disco is still continuing in R12, as 10g. It works fine, I've been on a couple of sites where it's been installed/upgraded from 11i.

BI Publisher is not replacing it, different tool set. Well, not in R12 anyway.
