Shane - there are Absence Types, Categories and Reasons. Two are QuickCodes, the other (Types) is defined via the Payroll menu. This stuff is fairly basic configuration - any functional consultant should know how to set them up.

What problems are you facing with what you are trying to do - we try to avoid repeating the configuration manuals on here - but if you find anything you can't get to work, then let us know?

It is certainly true that you will not be able to delete the Types if they have been used against an employee - that is as you would expect I am sure.

Can you explain more what you are trying to do? There is one form to define Absence Types - the one where you link a Type to an Absence Category and as many Absence Reasons as you want.

i want to modify the list of values in absence types so as to make visible only those values that are required to create an absence request, for example i want to display only sick leave and annual leave in the absence type list.

If there is any select statement that is executed to populate the absence type field, so that i can modify it to suit my purpose.

It is not possible to limit the list.
But you can add validation in BG_ABSENCE_DURATION fast formula to stop people from requesting other types of leave.

Absence is configured to meet user requirements on a Business Group basis (Absence Types) and Instance (i.e. Quick code) level (Categories and Reasons). So the only people who will know the codes are people with your configuration details.

Shane - I really think you need to get some functional help - -where are you working? Do you have a functional consultant there who can help you to see what has been configured?

If you want to restrict the absence values that appear in the LOV of the SSHR page*, then you need to extend the page controller. A relatively simple (and supportable) OA Framework extension but you need to use JDeveloper. This is the only way of doing it. It cannot be done using application config.

* Leaving the defined absence types well alone and purely restricting what is seen and allowed to be used on the SSHR page.

Simon.
