Again, more snippets from OHUG (and probably posted on Metalink somewhere).... With R12.1, Oracle are reverting to granular family packs on a 6-monthly basis. So assuming 12.1.1 is out (or immenent)... 12.1.2 is due end of 2009 12.1.3 due mid 2010 etc This was correct at time of announcement (ie 15th June at OHUG) but since all the Oracle presentations had the usual disclaimer notices at the start, these dates are subject to change
Edited by bcooper (07/07/09 03:17 PM) Edit Reason: Corrected the versions - thanks Jairo :)

12.1.1 is out now....so 12.1.2 by the end of this year? By the way, has anybody seen the HR Help Desk functionality on 12.1.1? Jairo

Thanks Barry. My understanding is that 12.1.1 only offers the web services to allow the connection to and from peoplesoft, so this one will be a challenge... Any peoplesoft experts out there? Jairo

you still need to install peoplesoft in order to use this functionality. 12.1.1 only provides the link between the 2 products. Jairo

So if Oracle are reverting to granular family packs on a 6-monthly basis with R12.1, does that mean both the mid and end of year family pack will have to be applied to keep compliant with payroll before EOY? i.e. two family packs have to be applied?

So if Oracle are reverting to granular family packs on a 6-monthly basis with R12.1, does that mean both the mid and end of year family pack will have to be applied to keep compliant with payroll before EOY? i.e. two family packs have to be applied? Good question, and one that did get raised at the Payroll CAB meeting at OHUG. On the NHS project they do not have the bandwidth for testing of multiple patches (of this size) in a given year and so would only take the EOY patch. The answer is no. They will be roll-up patches (as before i think). I think the "granular" term is a bit misleading - i think they meant that they would be providing 'smaller chunks of patches' rather than massive annual patches. Hope that clears things up? Oh, and if the 'invisible' Oracle watchers would care to chip in and correct me (if I am wrong) then i'd appreciate it

Yes you would still need to install the Peoplesoft HR Helpdesk system - its not bundled with EBS. The demo i saw, though, was seamless (realtime, not smoke-and-mirrors stuff neither)!
