Another slightly inane question from the newbie.

Entry of absence. Once a record is entered and a subsequent record needs entering prior to the date of the absence already in HRMS, is there a way to enter it without having to remove those records that exist after the date of the prior period of absence?

Gareth,

When you say 'absence', what kind of absence are you thinking of? If it's sickness absence, then sadly you do need to enter them in chronological order, for the simple reason that they may need to be linked from an SSP perspective. The system will therefore prevent you from entering a sickness where there is a sickness with a start date after the one you're trying to enter.

I think ordinary leave absences may allow it, but you might, if there is some kind of OSP thing in place, need to approach it with a due sense of caution.

CT, sorry yes I meant sickness absence. This confirms my suspicions. I think this is more realted to a problem with the business process, than anything else. Thanks for your reply.

For the record, this is the same for all absence types! You can't insert a record of the same type between two others.

I'm back again....

Can HRMS auto calculate the number of days absence when the user puts in the start and to dates?

Hello Gareth

In a word, yes... albeit rather simplistic in its default behaviour. OK that's more than one word!

Having said that I believe there is a Fast*Formula template TEMPLATE_ABSENCE_DURATION whereby one may have a degree of influence over the algorithm used, e.g identifying 'non-working' days etc. I think you need to take a copy of it, and use it to create a formula called BG_ABSENCE_DURATION (which applies the calculation rule at Business Group level)
