I got an email from a company called www.eprentise.com with below text...
from looks of it they are selling an application which can be used to "transform" to R12 (i.e. upgrade rather than implementation) ...

Anyone going to OpenWorld this year? They might want to find out more on what exactly are they selling.. ??

-----------
Now, you can transform 11i with eprentise software and upgrade instead. Visit us at Oracle OpenWorld to learn how E-Business Suite 11i customers are upgrading instead of reimplementing, shortening the time-to-value at a lower cost, and providing a better R12 result for both the Business and IT.
Did you know...
When you use eprentise software to transform 11i, you can change Key Flexfields and fundamental setup configurations? ... when you upgrade to R12, you can keep all of your history? Are your last 10 years worthless?

I'd have thought most 'large' 11i implementations would upgrade rather than re-implement. You'd need some hefty business reasons to start all over agin imho.

I'll pass the info over to one of the bods on the NHS project as they have wangled a jolly trip to Open World

Thanks Barry..
that info will be useful..
atleast a basic idea... i would suppose they might end-dating the BG setup from future date... but then how do the old structures work with in finance SLA logic.. especially payroll costing..

Hi. I just became aware of this forum and your dialog with the questions about eprentise. I work for eprentise and would like to help clarify what our software does, and how it helps Oracle E-Business Suite customers. Here are some main points:

- eprentise software gives customers the ability to change what are otherwise "implementation-time" setup configurations.
- examples are Chart Of Accounts, Cost Accounting Flexfield, Calendar, Key Flexfields, Organization structures
- eprentise software can consolidate two or more production EBS instances
- the software can operate on 11i and R12 instances, but cannot consolidate an 11i with an R12

Assume a customer needs to change an obsolete COA. Oracle would say, reimplement R12 and migrate your 11i data into the new instance. We say, change the COA in 11i and then use Oracle's upgrade.

Assume a customer has North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific production 11i instances (3) and their goal is a single global R12 instance. Oracle would say reimplement a clean R12 instance then migrate data from NA, EMEA, and APAC into it. We say, consolidate the 3 11i instances into one, then do a single upgrade.

There are other examples. We offer scenarios that didn't exist. But with the new scenarios, the customer then will perform their due diligence to compare them. Only with pretty deep analysis can you make a good decision.

We have a white paper and customer stories since Openworld in the fall of 2009.

If you contact me I would welcome the opportunity to explore your situation and help you access our relevant resources.
