Just some info about using a specific type of wildcard option in unix. I was recently trying to (in a Unix Script) list any files that has an L or an R in a certain position. . .The solution was to use [L R] in the position required i.e. . .PAY_[L R]*.UNI . .to list PAY_1234_LEAV.UNI and PAY_4567_RED.UNI . .if you want to add more letters number then just add delimitted by a . .if you want a range the use the - instead of the i.e. [a-z]. . .Hope this helps someone else oneday!

Thanks for the contribution Mr. ihilliard! Any other *nix snippets out there? E.g. if one had an installation shell script that wanted to establish the presence of a directory before trying to 'mkdir' it I'd be interested to see how that might be achieved? . .Cheers . .Clive
