Hi all

I've a client who is in the process of trying to upgrade to R12. They've engaged a consultancy (for the sake of this question, lets call them Vampire Consultancy...) to do the upgrade, which seems to be going well, except for one major issue... (Funnily enough, the reason they engaged this consultancy was for this issue, but thats besides the point...).

The issue is that the client has a number of modules that were written in web pl/sql - some pretty big stuff like a Share Scheme which practically cannot be re-written within reasonable timeframes. You probably know that Oracle R12 no longer supports web pl/sql, hence the problem.

There are some notes on Metalink which talk about how to run web pl/sql in R12 - however the Vampires are not making any progress.

And my question is: Has anybody out there managed to get web pl/sql working on R12?

To my knowledge oracle is not supporting mod_plsql with r12 architecture, but that dosen't necessarily mean we can not run PL/SQL Web Application built using web pl/sql (pl/sql web tool kit).

Its my impression that we can still run these application by not using Oracle HTTP Server but instead use an Apache server.

Please educate me as well on this, if you have any other information.

Not sure you can run Oracle HTTP Server and Apache on the same mid-tier box

Unless there is a custom work-around that mimic's the functionality of the mod_plsql plugin within HTTP Server...

I'm sure Oracle would recommend any apps written in web pl/sql being migrated (read Rewritten) in something like APEX / ADF Faces etc

I've got mod_plsql working on R12 previously. I even went through the process as an SR with Oracle, only for them to decide it wasn't something they were going to support.
I've got set up document at home. If you would like a copy, send me a private message with an email address, and I'll fire it over to you.
