Okay okay so I said we'd be on the shiny new server and forum software..... .We're not....yet. . .Having a few teething issues with the migration such as no passwords being migrated with the user data meaning that nobody would be able to log in anyway! . .Have also encountered issues with truncation of post data...the import process doesn't seem to like any embedded CR or LF characters (sounds familiar). . .So i've re-opened the old board for now as I simply ran out of time over the weekend to sort out the steaming mess in the new forums. . .The best laid plans etc... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />ops:

Slightly better news this morning. . .Have managed to migrate the data across into the new forum/server. .Had a look and things seem to be okay. . .I need to do some more configuration work regarding user settings groups and security. .Plus I also need to put up a better-looking front page and tart-up the look-and-feel of it all. . .Still have an issue with user passwords not coming across but technical support are on the case <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> . .Fingers-crossed for a full cut-over next weekend.

Thought i'd update you all on the 'mass migration' of the bulletin board... . .The migration of the core data items has been tested now a couple of times and appears to be okay. .I still have an issue with passwords and it looks like the only way around this is going to be that each user will have to use the "i've forgotten my password" option - this will then auto-generate a new passord and email it out to your registered email address. .I'm currently building the supporting web-site to contain the bulletin board however i'm unlikely to complete all of these tasks before I bog-off on holiday. As an upshot of this I am planning to delay the final cut-over to the new site until I return from hols. THis means sometime around w/c 8th August. .I would suggest that all users check to ensure that their details (ie Email addresses) are correct and valid otherwise you are going to be unable to use the new site... .Oh and if you want to save any of your personal messages I would do this as well as I still have not got the migration scripts for this data working yet so you may lose them all in the move. .Ta
