Morning all . .We're encountering a wee issuette here at WD with using the create_sit api wherein the message is returned "The date_from and date_to combination is invalid." This happens even though the date_to is actually null. Before you ask the date_from is populated with a sensible date. . .Anyone come across this before? . .Cheers . .CT

Are you passing the date_to as a named parameter or leaving it to default? .If you are passing it are so explicitly setting it to NULL or passing it a variable? Is the variable set to NULL or uninitialised?

We're actually using it via DP *spits on own screen* . .date_to is definitely a null value on the pump batch lines date_from is held in it's canonical form yyyy/mm/dd

in that case try setting it to the hr_api.g_date . .I've seen this before with other api's using DP. .Inside its inner workings it compares incoming params against the hr_api.g_number g_date and g_varchar2 is this is the only way it knows that the column is NULL rather than you passing through a NULL to NULLIFY an existing value...

Baz . .You were almost right - the answer is in fact to remove Neill Atkins from your client site with all speed. :roll: . .No what is happening here is that if the SIT entry is meant to be open-ended then the batch line column associated with p_date_to parameter needs to hold the value '<NULL>'. We were already doing this for other null columns but not the p_date_to. . .We can close this TAR now :mrgreen:

.. i should be careful Mr Cooper. I would hate to have to dust down my BAA stories of re-coding from those erly days of data pump. Or discuss items of code that have reappeared at other various other "healthy" implementations (One of the functions has a bug in it) - actually if you are all my friends i'll consider informing of the function and the bug !
