Ok so the ideal time for a go-live is April to remove any balance initialization issues for other than 'ITD' balances

For a mid year go-live other balances are required

Obvious ones are Taaxable Pay and Tax Paid, also any reducing balance 'Loan' type balances

Are there any other 'statutory' balances/dimensions required for a mid year go live, I am especially interested in anything which would affect the following years TYE

Cheers

Hi Gus,

Obvious ones are NI balances for each category, these are probably the most complicated depending on how the legacy system holds them. Also be careful with taxable pay and previous pay (P45) figures. Most legacy systems include P45 figures in there YTD Taxable and Tax Paid figures, whereas Oracle hold them separately. Gross Pay and, probably Pensionable pay will also be needed. This is not a definitive list as there may well be others.

Not actually required for TYE, but what about pension balances.

Hi Gus,

You'll also need the SSP, SMP, SAP and SPP totals as well as the new ASPP totals.

Student loans?
Court Orders *spit* - although with a bit of luck you can avoid the need to do these programatically!

Car mileage Even/Odd years if your implementation deals with mileage claims.

Peter makes a good point about pensions balances - also pensionable pay, particularly where capping is a possibility. Indeed, anything which is likely to be extracted and sent to a third party.

Just tagging on here as its current...

How do I manage multiple periods of employment in the same tax year as far as migrating balances are concerned?

Do i need to migrate the balances into each period of employment or can I just migrate the balances for the latest employment and make sure the P45 figures on the PAYE Details element are correct?

Tim

I think you'd need the balances for both employments - essentially the rehired employee will appear on the P35 twice, under his old and his new 'works number' (i.e. assignment_number)

I think also the thing about adjusting taxable pay and tax paid balances to remove the P45 figures would also hold, otherwise you would be in danger of double-counting those.

Tim,

CT is correct in that you will need to contain the correct balances (YTD) per employee/assignment record i.e. Old and New details. What you must be carefull of is the P45 infomation may be held in the migrated balances so DON'T include them again in the Tax Information Details unless you are sure the migrated balances don't hold the P45 info.

Cheers

True Paul,

But if they are included in the migrated balances you should really remove them and include them in the tax information details as you don't want them showing as Earnings and Tax in this employment.
