Ello fellow aces,

I'm currently working at a company that is in administration. We've just gone live with Oracle Payroll and are paying the first months payroll from Oracle this month.

Its going to emerge from administration at some point in the future, and I am getting my head around the changes that are neccessary for PAYE References and taxation.

If we get new paye references mid year, am I right in thinking we have to create new payrolls and migrate employees to the new payrolls, since we have already processed on the old references?

I am thinking the process is as follows;

1) Create new payrolls.
2) Create new secondary assignments for all employees.
3) Make these new assignments the primary ones
4) Update the status on the old assignments to "Terminate Process Assignment"
5) Run P45 Process at end of period for old assignments.

Tim

And .... 6) Enter the P45 information onto the -2 assignments for PAYE Calculations to be correct.

Cheers

I like that idea.....taking it a step further

If an Employee had 3 assignments all on the Same Tax Ref (usually Payroll)

If we go through the above process, ie. so we create 3 new Assignments, leave three old ones end dated, for the new assignments switch these over to the new payroll and off we go

No issues at the TYE?

Beacuse in the thread I created a while back we talked of fully P45ing the emp and re-creating everything (new EMpno)

Hi Tim,

If you have 3 assignments being paid under one tax reference i.e. 12345, 12345-2, 12345-3, you should have the aggregated flag set. When you need to transfer the assignments across to the new payroll you will have to create them as a new employee with 3 new assignments. This is because if you were to end the original 3 assignments, create 3 new assignments, the payroll would cause the EOY to fail due to the PAYE aggregation being ticked and the Payrolls having different tax references.

Have fun

Paul

Aaaahhhhhh Thanks

So it is the aggregation flag which is the issue

Cheers

Thanks for all the replies, they have been very useful.

Just to answer Paul, multiple assignments are the spawn of the devil and we're not using them. We do have -2,-3 assignments but they are rehires and represent seperate periods of employment, so there are no PAYE aggregation issues.

Tim.
