Hello
Is there anyone out there using Mandatory Enrolments within OLM?

If so please make yourselves known to me - may have a couple of questions to bounce your way smile

Regards

Barry

Hi Barry

We used Mandatory Enrollments at my last client site.

Happy to answer if I can help in anyway.

...and my questions are...

Are you using it in conjuction with Recruitment?
If so, how?
What happened when you ran it for the first time?
What sort of content have you marked as mandatory?

Also making the assumption that you are using OLM for online (e-Learning) content?

What perceptions did you have when implementing it, and do you have any lessons learnt from the implementation experience smile

Sorry, theres are lot here. Feel free to ask for explanations etc.

Regards

Barry

Hi Barry
I've looked at mandatory enrollments before but never implemented them in anger, so interested in what you've experienced. Your post suggests they are not all they are cracked up to be!

When I first saw this feature I had doubts over how configurable they could be. I can basically see a use for eLearning but only if you have really broad classes that can be defined for everyone on a particular Job or Position. So if you start getting lots of positions across an organization, the maintenance of that becomes a nightmare.

It looked to me a kinda useful feature but anticipated people hitting their heads on their desks in terms of getting it to work in practice.

What have you found?

Hello Ivan
I know your name from Oracle days, although frantically trying to remember exactly when...

One of the main problems we have encountered is trying to accurately restrict the enrolment of applicants; we have training that is essential for applicants, but only at certain statuses (offer etc). When we mark the training as mandatory it attempts to enrol all applicants of that status, including historic ones (we retain applicants for 13 months); fine for a typical organisation, but since we can have a million+ applicants a year it makes it tricky!

We have other issues linked with certifications and how the 2 area's of functionality should work.

I suspect we can pick this up next week. But for now, the weekend beckons

Regards
Barry

Hi Barry,

Please see my comments below

- Are you using it in conjunction with Recruitment?
If so, how?
Client has iRecruitment however not linking Mandatory Enrollments to this.

- What happened when you ran it for the first time?
It actually worked fine and enrolled learners who are qualified/linked to Mandatory Enrollments.

- What sort of content have you marked as mandatory?
Some Mandatory Courses were job specific for example
Those required Safety Critical Licences to do their job
Also we used Mandatory Enrollements for all employees for courses such as company rules around using Internet/email and keeping data safe was enforced.

We found the Mandatory Enrollment functionality actually is quite a useful feature at perhaps a basic level when courses are generic and not reliant on configuting on job, position etc level.

- Also making the assumption that you are using OLM for online (e-Learning) content?

- What perceptions did you have when implementing it, and do you have any lessons learnt from the implementation experience
Online e-learning content was provided by third party to which we had published as CMI material and linked in via a specific URL. It is important to check with the Third Party provider how they plan or want you to publish the course based on their previous experience. Also the content needs to be held in the correct format with the Home button links reverting back into the Learner page. We had issues were the Third Party e-learning page took us out of the correctly formatted pages and at the time of completing the e-learning course, the learner linked home button was not available and hence there was no link to automatically show completion of the course. Hope that makes sense, if not, happy to have a chat to clarify.

Regards,

Sahir

I am speaking to colleague around some of your specific issues, as she looked into the Mandatory Enrollment functionality in some detail and I think she has used it as integration into iRec too. Will provide update from this when I can.
