Hi

How can i hide salary and dob information?

As I need to give access to allot of consultants, but the business want me to hide this information from them.

So a new responsibility, but I cant find any security profile or profile option for this.

Well do you scramble your data?
Exernal consultants should not need access to LIVE data.
Check with DBAs / on metalink about data scrambling/encrypting.
Basically these are update scripts which updates random values in respective fields.

If you are letting loose a hoard of consultants onto your production data then i'd ensure they only have access to a copy and ensure that key data items are obfuscated. Depending on which jurisdiction you (or your client) are working in you may find that this is a legal requirement (data protection laws vary wildly from country to country).

As SBi says, you need to think carefully about why you need to give external consultants access to your production system.
At the very very least, they should be forced to sign some form of legally binding non-disclosure/data protection document just to cover your client liability.

WIth regards to scrambling / obfuscating data, there are many companies that provide software that is suitable...that said we wrote our own scripts as we needed to be selective over certain fields.

Ok to be specific, I am one of 3 consultants.
I work for the organization, so i am an employee(internal).

The head company in the USA won't allow me access to any hrms responsibility due to DOB, and Saalry information.
And the software (11i) is owned by them(they pay the license fees, answer to software audtitors etc..)

All I want to know is, can i hide those fields using profile options?

I don't even have sysadmin access, so profiles could secure this data from , and then HR in the USA would allow me access to view UK based employee information, and absence mgmt, workstructures and organization setup etc..

As the UK based HRMS mgr, department want me to have access, so they dont have to maintain org setup, etc..

I would never update, or correct employees, its just to support my users, and also have access to live data, when it comes to absence mgmt issues etc..

My HRMS manager hates the americans!

However our solution is to hide the salary, DOB information in the form, the table per_all_people_f is being audited, and we have a view based on that table - salary and dob information.

Shall i create a custom profile option to hide the salary,dob, information (apply that profile option to a new responsibilit) and get the DBA to role this resp out to me?

Ok guys I think I have resolved it, to hide certain information from a particular person you want to allow access to hrms data, use taskflows:

How Does One Hide The Salary History Option That Is Available On The Assignment Form From US HR Manager Responsibility? [ID 1068012.1]

Using the US HRMS Manager Responsibility

1. Navigate to Security -> Taskflow Definitions
2. Query the US HR PERSON TASKFLOW, hit the copy button and name your new taskflow XX US HR PERSON TASKFLOW
3. Re-query XX US HR PERSON TASKFLOW in the same window.
4. In the Node Region of the window, in the name field query the node NASSIGN
5. Scroll down to the Salary history entry and delete it (Red X)
6. Save

Using the System Administrator Responsibility create a custom function to call this new taskflow and add to your menu

7. Navigate -> Application -> Function
8. Create a new function
Funtion=PERWSHRG-XX
User Function Name = Combined Person & Assignment Form WF="XX HR TSKFLW"
Description= Enter a description for your new function

On the forms tab, enter the following
Form=Combined Person & Assignment Form
The application would default to Human resources
In the Parameters field enter WORKFLOW_NAME="XX US HR PERSON TASKFLOW"

You have now created a new function to call the taskflow without the Salary History option.

Now add this to your menu,

Navigate to Application -> Menu
Query the menu attached to your responsibility.
Add a relevant prompt and in the function column , choose the Combined Person & Assignment Form WF="XX HR TSKFLW" function.

Remove the seeded entry for the People Enter & Maintain form.
