We have got an absence dff which is used to link an absence to specific assignment. The dff uses a table validation value set to generate a pick list of all an employees current assignments. . .The problem is in Self Service this thing runs like a dog my theory is that fnd_profile.value('PER_PERSON_ID') is null in SS (see code below). . .Can anyone confirm if fnd_profile.value works in Self Service and if not is there an alternative? And… .Do you know if userenv(‘sessionid’) works in self service (I’d like to get rid of the use of sysdate). . . .SELECT lower(PPF.full_name || '(' || haout.name || . decode(pj.name null null ' -' || pj.name) || ')') .FROM per_people_f ppf . per_assignments_f paf . per_jobs pj . hr_all_organization_units_tl haout .WHERE paf.person_id = nvl(fnd_profile.value . ('PER_PERSON_ID') paf.person_id) .AND paf.person_id = ppf.person_id .AND paf.payroll_id IS NOT NULL .AND paf.organization_id = haout.organization_id .AND haout.language = USERENV('LANG') .AND TRUNC(SYSDATE) BETWEEN ppf.EFFECTIVE_START_DATE AND . ppf.EFFECTIVE_END_DATE .AND paf.effective_start_date = .(SELECT MAX(paf2.effective_start_date) .FROM per_assignments_f paf2 .WHERE paf2.assignment_id = paf.assignment_id .AND paf2.effective_start_date <= TRUNC(sysdate) .) .AND paf.job_id = pj.job_id (+) . .Cheers . .Jay

Jay . .from what I rememeber userenv(‘sessionid’) doesn't work in SS. We needed to pass a parameter (the same as Web ADI) in order to change sysdate when needed. . .Regards . .Jairo

Jairo . .Thanks for the reply - from what I can work out so far fnd_profile.value does not work in Self Servive and :$PROFILES$. won't work until we get FND.H into production...bugger! . .Jay

Bob . .I may have to revoke those beer tokens... fnd_global.employee_id brings back the the user's person_id. What I need is the person_id of the employee the user is entering an absence for (i.e. a supervisor entering an absence for one of his plebs) any ideas... . .fnd_global.session_id works a treat though. . .J

Are you in a wf and therefore able to use wf_engine.GetItemAttrNumber(CURRENT_PERSON_ID) ?

Rob . .The code is in a table validation value set attached to the Additional Absence dff that has been added (via personalization) to the standard SS Absence page. . .Do you reckon wf_engine is available and if so how do I get hold of the itemtype itemkey to pass to wf_engine.GetItemAttrNumber. . .Cheers ears . .Jay

I doubt you could call wfengine implicitly from SQL. Although I have never tried. Not sure I can help you any more. Sorry.
