We have got an absence dff which is used to link an absence to specific assignment. The dff uses a table validation value set to generate a pick list of all an employees current assignments. . .The problem is in Self Service this thing runs like a dog my theory is that fnd_profile.value('PER_PERSON_ID') is null in SS (see code below). . .Can anyone confirm if fnd_profile.value works in Self Service and if not is there an alternative? Jay . .from what I rememeber userenv(‘sessionid’) doesn't work in SS. We needed to pass a parameter (the same as Web ADI) in order to change sysdate when needed. . .Regards . .Jairo

Jairo . .Thanks for the reply - from what I can work out so far fnd_profile.value does not work in Self Servive and :$PROFILES$. won't work until we get FND.H into production...bugger! . .Jay

Can you not use FND_GLOBAL.employee_id ? .I know this work in SSHR.

Several pints I do now owe you - oh great one. . .PS. even better is fnd_global works in SSHR and PUI and there's a fnd_global.session_id....COME ON!!!!

Bob . .I may have to revoke those beer tokens... fnd_global.employee_id brings back the the user's person_id. What I need is the person_id of the employee the user is entering an absence for (i.e. a supervisor entering an absence for one of his plebs) any ideas... . .fnd_global.session_id works a treat though. . .J

Are you in a wf and therefore able to use wf_engine.GetItemAttrNumber(CURRENT_PERSON_ID) ?

Rob . .The code is in a table validation value set attached to the Additional Absence dff that has been added (via personalization) to the standard SS Absence page. . .Do you reckon wf_engine is available and if so how do I get hold of the itemtype itemkey to pass to wf_engine.GetItemAttrNumber. . .Cheers ears . .Jay

I doubt you could call wfengine implicitly from SQL. Although I have never tried. Not sure I can help you any more. Sorry.
