Ok so the value is likley to be low then...will have to do some testing...will also have to se a vle for BEE that is above whatever cutoff figure we use was thinking of 10% of the rows in the batch

I can see the Action Parameter Group assigned to the Payroll Process as a parameter...good idea as can have different groups for different jobs

How do you locate the GFF file for the End of Year EDI process?

Thanks

In my quieter moments, I muse about the THREADS parameter.

Specifically, what is the optimal setting taking into account the number of CPUs, the number of cores those CPUs have and how many instances you have running on that server? The Oracle documentation that I've read is very vague in this regard. As a non-DBA, I'd like to ask how does CPU get allocated when you have more than one instance (e.g. multiple development environments) on one box?

According to the Action Parameters white paper, the threads value should be less than or equal to the number of CPUs.

As another non-DBA, I have no idea how CPU gets allocated for multi instance on the same box. I imagine it will involve witch-craft, juju, rune stones, genuflexion with a bottle of Night Nurse, examining the entrails of a NAAFI pork pie etc.

Our DBAs settled on 4 threads per CPU the optimum for our set-up. Any more seemed to cause page swapping and greater elapse times from the concurrent processes.

Hi Martin,

Seems overkill to me having that many letters. Seeing you are at the start of this project then suggest that they reduce the number of letters as this is high maintenance. They really only need to have a max of 3 letters like we have here and in each letter make a generic statement. Our third letter, which is for re-instating some one who has opted and and their conditions now make for them to be re enrolled, is very rarely meet. We don't generate letters for anyone postponed as government rules are EVERYONE is enrolled.

To make your life easier try and get them to reconsider the letters.

This is just a suggestion grin

Cheers
