From memory another foible is that the you have your pay_balance_batch_lines rows all waiting with a status of 'U' the first thing the Balance Upload process does is set them all to 'V' so you cannot monitor how things are going...it then unsets the 'V' to 'E' as it finds Errors.

So you have no idea how things are progressing at least within that table

Fair point - all the more reason to keep the batch sizes small, i.e. balances for one assignment only. Monitoring throughput rates then becomes more feasible.
