Dear All

Due to a pending restructure we have a requirement to change the positions of a large number of employees.

Seemed straightforward enough using package hr_assignment_api's update_emp_asg_criteria function, but the updates are failing with either of two similar errors :

'The position and organization combination for the assignment
should match the position and organization combination in per_positions'

(The second error is identical in format but with postion and job combination mismatch).

At present, my call to the API doesn't include the job and organization ids. If I find the correct ones for the position and pass them in will this all sort itself out?

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated - I'm fumbling around with this stuff but don't have much real knowledge.

Thanks,

Andrew

I should also add that the change is to come into effect on June 1st.

Andrew - you will need to obtain the appropriate organization_id and job_id for the new position, and plug those into your api call. You should then be OK. The target date of 01/06/2010 should not be a problem, if you use that as the effective date and a date-track mode of 'UPDATE' - however you *might* hit one or two instances where the assignment has already got a date-effective change on or after that date.

Thanks - I eventually did just that and all was well.

Was a bit worried for a while though. Or rather the HR dept. were worried at the prospect of 000's of manual updates if it hadn't worked!
