#6841 - 16/08/11 03:30 PM Exporting Self Service Personalization

Does anyone know whether SSHR personalization can be exported and loaded to another environment?
We currently offer a 'pre-configured' HRMS application which has a template of configuration overlaid for rapid implementation. Underpinning this is Oracle Workflow but we have our own Self Service module. We are now at the stage where we are considering replacing our Self Service with Oracle Self Service. In keeping with our rapid implementation, we would like to configure (or personalize) an instance locally, save the content and then 'drop' it to our customers and just make local changes where required. As we only operate in one industry sector this is a very efficient way of working and will give us huge benefits if we can replicate with SSHR.
Any advice from any experience SSHR users will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Martyn, welcome aboard.

Yes personalisation's can be exported and imported between environments.

You can achieve this either via running the java importers/exporters from the shell, or (preferable option) achieve this via the Functional Administrator responsibility.
Under the "Personalization" tab there is the Import/Export page
This screen provides the ability to search, or drill down into, the personalization repository.

From here you can select individual pages, or functional branches to export. Note that the files are exported to the file system so you will still need DBA intervention to retrieve them etc.

From this same page you can select export files to upload/import into your system.

Its best to ensure that the source and target environments are running more or less the same level of RUP/Patching to avoid any potential issues with file versioning etc.

Regards

Barry
